The earliest conception of paradise is the garden of Eden. The Bible picture is not derived directly from the garden, but from the ancient Semitic ideas of oases (comp. Barton, l.c. pp. 93, 96). In Ezekiel’s version it is a mountain (probably identical with the hill of Solomon’s temple in Tyre) surrounded by water (comp. a similar picture in the book of Revelation, xxii. 2 et seq.), and in the center of which is a palm-tree.

In October 1996, cofounders John Loeffler and Jon Small merged their wholly owned companies, Rave Music and Picture Vision, into the new Paradise. Rave had been formed in 1979 to provide commercial scoring for advertising themes and jingles, while Picture Vision was established in 1984 as a music video production company.
